Dorzolamide HCl
Indications/Uses
Elevated IOP in patients w/ ocular HTN, open-angle glaucoma & pseudoexfoliative glaucoma & other secondary open-angle glaucomas.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Monotherapy 1 drop in the affected eye(s) tid. Adjunctive therapy w/ an ophth β-blocker 1 drop in the affected eye(s) bid.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Severe renal impairment. Acute angle-closure glaucoma. Hepatic impairment. Conjunctivitis & lid reactions. Choroidal detachment after filtration procedure. Contact lenses should be removed before application or not reinserted ≤15 min after use. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn.
Adverse Reactions
Bitter taste, burning & stinging, blurred vision, eye itching, tearing, headache, conjunctivitis, eyelid inflammation, nausea, eyelid irritation & asthenia/fatigue. Iridocyclitis & rash. Urolithiasis. Palpebral reactions, angioedema, bronchospasm, urticaria, pruritus. Dizziness, paresthesia. Ocular pain, redness, superficial punctate keratitis, transient myopia, eyelid crusting, choroidal detachment. Contact dermatitis, epistaxis, throat irritation, dry mouth, palpitations.
Drug Interactions
Potential additive effect w/ oral carbonic anhydrase inhibitors.
