Not to be administered IV or IM. Not to be used in patients w/ type 1 DM or for the treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis. Not a substitute for insulin. Potential risk of dehydration, particularly in relation to GI side effects; avoid fluid depletion. Not recommended in patients w/ severe GI disease, including severe gastroparesis; ESRD (<15 mL/min/1.73 m
2). Discontinue if acute pancreatitis is suspected. Increased risk of hypoglycemia in combination w/ sulphonylurea or insulin. Avoid driving & using machines in the presence of hypoglycemia. Not recommended during pregnancy. Not to be used during lactation. Childn <18 yr.
