Metronidazole 750 mg, miconazole nitrate 200 mg, lidocaine 100 mg
Indications/Uses
Candidal vulvovaginitis due to Candida albicans. Bacterial vaginitis due to anaerobic bacteria & Gardnerella vaginalis. Trichomonal vaginitis due to Trichomonas vaginalis & in mixed vag infections.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Insert 1 vag supp into vagina for 7 nights. Recurrent cases, or when vaginitis has been resistant to other treatments Use 1 vag supp for 14 nights.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to miconazole, metronidazole, lidocaine or their derivatives. Porphyria, epilepsy. Severe liver function disorder. Pregnancy (1st trimester).
Special Precautions
Not to be used in young girls who are not sexually mature. Treat sexual partners of patients w/ Trichomonas vaginalis at the same time. Do not take alcohol during therapy & for 3 days after end of treatment due to possibility of disulfiram-like reactions. Avoid pregnancy w/ proper birth control method. Discontinue breastfeeding during therapy, can be started again 24-48 hr after end of treatment.
Adverse Reactions
Vag burning, itching & irritation symptoms.
Drug Interactions
Concomitant use w/ alcohol; amiodarone, astemizole, terfenadine, disulfiram, phenytoin, phenobarb, fluorouracil, carbamazepine, lithium, oral anticoagulants, cyclosporine, cimetidine, acenocoumarol, anisindione, dicoumarol, phenindione, phenprocoumon, warfarin, cisapride, fosphenytoin, fentanyl, glimepiride, oxybutynin, oxycodone, pimozide, tolterodine, trimetrexate & propranolol.
