Prophylaxis of acute organ rejection in de novo renal transplantation in adults & childn. To be used concomitantly w/ ciclosporin for microemulsion- & corticosteroid-based immunosuppression or in triple therapy regimen w/ corticosteroid, ciclosporin for microemulsion & either azathioprine or mycophenolate mofetil.
2 doses, the 1st w/in 2 hr before transplantation surgery, 2nd dose: 4 days after transplantation. Adult & childn weighing ≥35 kg 20 mg/dose. Childn <35 kg 10 mg/dose.
Permanently discontinue if severe hypersensitivity/anaphylactoid type reactions occur. Patients previously treated w/ Simulect who are re-exposed to a subsequent course of therapy. Increased risk of developing lymphoproliferative disorders (eg, lymphoma) & opportunistic infections (eg, cytomegalovirus) in transplant patients receiving immunosuppressives. Live vaccines are not recommended for immunosuppressed patients. Inactivated vaccines may be administered to immunosuppressed patients. Women of childbearing potential should use adequate contraception & continue use 4 mth after therapy. Pregnancy & lactation (4 mth following the last dose).
