Indications/Uses
Tab: Symptomatic treatment of allergic rhinitis & urticaria in adults & adolescents (>12 yr). Oral soln: Symptomatic treatment of allergic rhinitis (including persistent allergic rhinitis) & urticaria in childn 2-11 yr.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Tab Adult & adolescent (>12 yr) 10 mg once daily. Oral soln Childn 2-11 yr weighing ≥25 kg 5 mL once daily, ≥10 to <25 kg 2.5 mL once daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: Swallow w/ sufficient amount of fluid.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Concomitant use w/ grapefruit juice. Patients w/ known QT interval prolongation; uncorrected hypokalemia; ongoing proarrhythmic conditions eg, clinically significant bradycardia & acute myocardial ischemia. Renal or hepatic insufficiency. Pregnancy & lactation. Tab: Galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Not recommended in childn <12 yr. Elderly ≥65 yr. Oral soln: Concomitant use w/ simvastatin, lovastatin, cyclosporin, tacrolimus, sirolimus, everolimus, cisapride. Fructose intolerance, glucose/galactose malabsorption or sucrase-isomaltase insufficiency. Contains sucrose & methyl parahydroxybenzoate. Childn <2 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Somnolence, headache. Tab: Fatigue, dizziness, dry mouth, asthenia.
Drug Interactions
Increased systemic exposure w/ ketoconazole & erythromycin; grapefruit juice. Increased impairment caused by alcohol. Interactions w/ CNS depressants, statins.
