Indications/Uses
Active duodenal ulcer; benign gastric ulcer. Erosive or ulcerative GERD. Eradication of H. pylori-+ve duodenal ulcers.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & elderly Severe erosive or ulcerative GERD 20 mg once daily for 4-8 wk. Maintenance: 10-20 mg daily depending on response. Symptomatic disease w/ or w/o erosive or ulcerative oesophagitis 10-20 mg once daily for 4 wk. Active PUD 20 mg daily, 4-8 wk for duodenal ulcer & 6-12 wk for gastric ulcer. Eradication of H. pylori 20 mg bid + clarithromycin 250 mg bid + metronidazole 400 mg bid for 1 wk. Zollinger-Ellison syndrome 60 mg once daily or up to 100-120 mg daily in 2 divided doses.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
Patients w/ severe hepatic dysfunction. Not recommended in childn.
Adverse Reactions
Drug Interactions
Decreased ketoconazole levels; increased in digoxin levels.
