Indications/Uses
Neuropathic pain w/ diabetic peripheral neuropathy; postherpetic neuralgia; fibromyalgia; neuropathic pain associated w/ spinal cord injury. Adjunctive therapy for adult patients w/ partial onset seizures.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Neuropathic pain w/ diabetic peripheral neuropathy Max: 100 mg tid. CrCl at least 60 mL/min Start at 50 mg tid, may be increased to 300 mg/day w/in 1 wk. Postherpetic neuralgia 75-150 mg bid or 50-100 tid. CrCl at least 60 mL/min Start at 75 mg bid or 50 mg tid, may be increased to 300 mg/day w/in 1 wk. May further increase up to 300 mg bid or 200 mg tid for insufficient pain relief after 2-4 wk treatment or able to tolerate pregabalin. Adjunctive therapy w/ partial onset seizures Adult 150-600 mg/day in 2 or 3 divided dose. Total daily dose should be started no >150 mg/day. Max: 600 mg/day. Fibromyalgia 300-450 mg/day. Start at 75 mg bid, may be increased to 150 mg bid w/in 1 wk. May further increase to 225 mg bid for insufficient pain relief. Max: 450 mg/day. Neuropathic pain w/ spinal cord injury 150-600 mg/day. Start at 75 mg bid, may be increased to 150 mg bid w/in 1 wk. May further increase up to 300 mg bid for insufficient pain relief after 2-3 wk treatment.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Special Precautions
Existing or previous episode of angioedema. Hypersensitivity. Increased risk of suicidal thoughts or behavior. Avoid abrupt w/drawal & taper dose gradually over min of 1 wk.
Adverse Reactions
Increased appetite, confusion, disorientation, decreased libido, irritability, insomnia. Hypersensitivity, angioedema, allergic reaction, euphoric mood.
