Thromboembolic disorders eg, MI, peripheral arterial disease & stroke. Alternative to aspirin in patients at risk of intermittent claudication & ischemic heart disease. Adjunct to aspirin in prevention of subacute stent occlusion intracoronary stenting.
Hematopoietic disorders eg, neutropenia or thrombocytopenia, hemorrhagic diathesis or hemorrhagic disorders associated w/ a prolonged bleeding time, increased risk of bleeding eg, GI ulcer, acute cerebral hemorrhage & severe liver dysfunction. Full blood counts should be performed before starting treatment & every 2 wk during the 1st 3 mth of therapy.
