Tab Adult Amoebic dysentery Initially 2 g as single dose for 2 days then 500 mg tid for 5-10 days.
Hepatic & other extraintestinal amoebiasis 500-800 mg tid or 2 g as single dose for 2 days.
Giardiasis 2 g daily as single dose for 3 successive days.
Childn 7-10 yr ½ adult dose.
Susp Childn ≥10 yr 1-2 tsp,
5-10 yr 2 tsp,
2-5 yr 1 tsp. To be taken 8 hrly.
Inj Adult & childn >12 yr 100 mL IV infusion 8 hrly for 7 days immediately before, during or after an operation by the same dose 8 hrly until oral medication can be given to complete a 7-day course.
Treatment Adult & childn >12 yr 100 mL IV infusion 8 hrly for 7 days.
Childn <12 yr As for adults, but the single IV dose is based on 1.5 mL/kg.
