Short-term treatment of moderate pain, following surgery & fever, when administration by IV route is clinically justified by an urgent need to treat pain or hyperthermia &/or when other routes of administration are not possible.
Patient >50 kg w/ additional risk factors for hepatotoxicity 1 g. Max daily dose: 3 g, >50 kg & no additional risk factors for hepatotoxicity 1 g. Max daily dose: 4 g, >33 kg-≤50 kg 15 mg/kg. Max daily dose: 60 mg/kg not exceeding 3 g. Min interval between each administration must be at least 4 hr. No >4 doses to be given in 24 hr. Patient w/ severe renal insufficiency Min interval between each administration must be at least 6 hr. Administer as 15 min IV infusion.
Serious skin reactions eg, acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, SJS, & TEN. Discontinue use at the 1st appearance of skin rash or any other sign of hypersensitivity. Hepatocellular insufficiency, severe renal insufficiency, G6PD; chronic alcoholism, excessive alcohol intake (≥3 alcoholic drinks every day), anorexia, bulimia or cachexia, chronic malnutrition (low reserves of hepatic glutathione), dehydration, hypovolemia. Pregnancy.
