Indications/Uses
Short-term treatment of moderate pain, particularly following surgery & fever. Analgesic or antipyretic especially in the elderly & in patients in whom salicylates or other NSAIDs are contraindicated including asthmatics, w/ history of peptic ulcer & childn.
Dosage/Direction for Use
IV infusion Patient >50 kg 1 g as single dose every 4 or more hr to max of 4 g daily, 33-50 kg 15 mg/kg as single dose every 4 or more hr to max of 60 mg/kg or 3 g daily, 10-33 kg 15 mg/kg as single dose or 2 g daily. Administer as 15-min IV infusion.
Special Precautions
Renal or hepatic impairment. Not to be given to neonates.
Adverse Reactions
Skin eruption, thrombocytopenia & leucopenia, methaemoglobinaemia resulting to cyanosis & renal damage on long-term use.
Drug Interactions
May enhance the activity of coumarin anticoagulants.
