Indications/Uses
Contrast medium for a variety of radiographic procedures including angiography, arthrography, myelography & urography.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Contraindications
Known hypersensitivity to contrast media or to iodine.
Special Precautions
Asthma, history of allergy, drug hypersensitivity, adrenal suppression, previous reaction to contrast medium. Perform sensitivity test before administration. Severe hepatic & renal impairment or those at increased risk of renal failure. Correct fluid & electrolyte balance prior to administration of contrast medium. Multiple myeloma. Severe HTN, advanced cardiac disease, pheochromocytoma, sickle-cell disease, or hyperthyroidism. May interfere w/ urine, thyroid function & blood coagulation tests. Childn. Debilitated, severely ill & elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Hyperthyroidism, nausea, metallic taste, vomiting, flushing, heat sensations, weakness, dizziness, headache, coughing, rhinitis, sweating, sneezing, lacrimation, visual & hemodynamic disturbances, pruritus, salivary gland enlargement, pallor, tachycardia, bradycardia, transient ECG abnormalities & hypotension. Pain at inj site, extravasation followed by tissue damage, thrombophlebitis, thrombosis, venospasm & embolism. Fibrinolysis, possible depressant & neurological effects, disseminated intravascular coagulation, urinary retention.
