Do not inj or swallow. Not to be the only or main treatment in patients w/ severe or unstable asthma; consider using max recommended dose of inhaled corticosteroid &/or oral corticosteroid therapy. Assess & consider increasing anti-inflammatory therapy (eg, higher doses of inhaled or oral corticosteroid) if short-acting relief bronchodilator treatment becomes less effective or more inhalations than usual are required. Severe exacerbations of asthma must be treated in the normal way. Thyrotoxicosis. Patients w/ underlying severe heart disease (eg, ischaemic heart disease, arrhythmia or severe heart failure) should seek medical advice if chest pain or other symptoms of worsening heart disease is experienced. Patients known to have received large doses of other sympathomimetic drugs. Potentially serious hypokalaemia in acute severe asthma due to hypoxia & concomitant use w/ xanthine derivatives, steroids & diuretics. Monitor K levels; development of elevated serum lactate & consequent metabolic acidosis. Diabetic patients. Combination w/ nebulised anticholinergics. Paradoxical bronchospasm may occur w/ an immediate increase in wheezing after dosing. Pregnancy & lactation.
