Nalbuphine HCl
Indications/Uses
Relief of moderate to severe pain. Pre-op analgesia, as a supplement to balanced or surgical anesth, for obstet analgesia during labor & relief of pain following MI. Post-op somatic & visceral pain.
Dosage/Direction for Use
SC/IM/IV Adult 0.15-0.2 mg/kg. Dose may be repeated every 3-6 hr or as needed. Childn 0.1-0.2 mg/kg up to a total single dose of 10 mg. Dose may be repeated every 3-6 hr or as needed.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Emotionally unstable patients or those w/ history of narcotic abuse. Abrupt w/drawal during chronic use. Presence of head injury, intracranial lesions or preexisting increase in intracranial pressure. Concomitant use w/ narcotic analgesic, general anesth, phenothiazines or other tranquilizers, sedatives, hypnotics or other CNS depressants (including alcohol). Impaired respiration; renal or hepatic function. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Sedation, drowsiness, sweating, nausea, dry mouth & dizziness.
Drug Interactions
Additive effect w/ narcotic analgesic, general anesth, phenothiazines or other tranquilizers, sedatives, hypnotics or other CNS depressants (including alcohol).
