Norplat Clopidogrel bisulfate. Norplat-S Clopidogrel bisulfate 75 mg, aspirin 75 mg
Indications/Uses
Norplat Prevention of atherosclerotic events in peripheral arterial disease or w/in 35 days of MI or w/in 6 mth of ischemic stroke, or in active coronary syndrome w/o ST-segment elevation. Norplat-S Prevention of ischemic events, MI, stroke & CV death in patients w/ acute coronary syndrome.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Norplat Recent MI, stroke or established peripheral arterial disease or as a prophylaxis 1 tab daily. Acute coronary syndrome (unstable angina/non-Q wave MI) Initially 300-mg loading dose, then continued at 1 tab once daily w/ 75-325 mg aspirin daily. Norplat-S 1 tab daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Norplat Patients who suffer from active pathological bleeding eg, peptic ulcer or intracranial hemorrhage. Norplat-S Hypersensitivity to salicylates (bronchospasm, anaphylactic reactions). Active gastroduodenal ulcers, hemorrhagic disease, severe hepatic impairment. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
Norplat Patients who have lesions w/ a propensity to bleed eg, ulcers, renal & hepatic impairment, at risk of increased bleeding from trauma, surgery or other pathological conditions or to undergo elective surgery. Hematopoietic disorders eg, neutropenia or thrombocytopenia, hemorrhagic diathesis or other hemorrhagic disorders. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn. Norplat-S Perform FBC prior to treatment, every 2 wk during 1st 3 mth of therapy & w/in 2 wk of discontinuing treatment. Allergy to ibuprofen or other NSAIDs; chronic or recurrent stomach or duodenal ulcers or digestive hemorrhages; severe renal impairment/disease & hepatic disease; allergic diseases eg, asthma or urticaria; gout. Patients at increased risk of bleeding from trauma, surgery or other pathological conditions. Discontinue use 5 days prior to elective surgery. Lesions which has a propensity to bleed eg, ulcers. Concomitant use w/ drugs that can induce lesions. Childn & adolescents w/ chickenpox, flu or fever.
Adverse Reactions
GI disturbances eg, diarrhea, abdominal pain, indigestion & nausea, dermatological reactions eg, rash & pruritis. Norplat-S Edema, urticaria, asthma.
Drug Interactions
Coumarin anticoagulants eg, warfarin; heparin & thrombolytic agents; NSAIDs; MTX; antidiabetic agents; probenecid, sulfinpyrazone, phenylbutazone; antacids. Drugs metabolized by CYP450 eg, phenytoin, tamoxifen, tolbutamide, torsemide, fluvastatin.
