Contents
Per tab Phenylpropanolamine HCl 15 mg, brompheniramine maleate 12 mg. Per 5 mL syr Phenylpropanolamine HCl 12.5 mg, brompheniramine maleate 4 mg. Per mL drops Phenylpropanolamine HCl 6.25 mg, brompheniramine maleate 2 mg
Indications/Uses
Allergic & vasomotor or other hyperactive nasal disorders & acute coryza. Relief of nasal congestion & hypersecretion.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Tab 1 tab bid. Syr Adult 5-10 mL. Childn 5-12 yr 5 mL, 3-4 yr 3.75 mL, 7 mth-2 yr 2.5 mL, 1-6 mth 1.25 mL. Drops Infant 7 mth-2 yr 1 mL, up to 6 mth 0.5 mL. To be taken 6-8 hrly.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: May be taken w/ food or milk to reduce GI discomfort.
Contraindications
Brain damage or epilepsy. Premature infants or neonates.
Special Precautions
Hyperthyroidism, CV disease eg, uncontrolled high BP, ischemic heart disease, arrhythmia or tachycardia; occlusive vascular disorders including arteriosclerosis, HTN or aneurysms; angina pectoris; DM or close-angle glaucoma; urinary retention, benign prostatic hypertrophy or pyloroduodenal obstruction; toxic goiter & those receiving antidepressants. May result to rebound congestion & rhinorrhea in excessive doses. Avoid alcoholic drink. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Elderly. Tab: Contains tartrazine causing allergic reaction including bronchial asthma.
Adverse Reactions
Brompheniramine maleate: Antimuscarinic effects, sedation, hypotension.
