Indications/Uses
Correction of hemodynamic imbalances present in shock due to MI, trauma, endotoxic septicemia, open-heart surgery, renal failure & chronic cardiac decompensation due to refractory CHF.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Contraindications
Pheochromocytoma; uncorrected tachyarrhythmias or ventricular fibrillation.
Special Precautions
Hypovolemia, occlusive vascular disease. Use w/ extreme caution in patients inhaling cyclopropane or halogenated hydrocarbon anesth.
Adverse Reactions
Ectopic beats; GI upset; tachycardia, anginal pain, palpitation; dyspnea; headache; hypotension, vasoconstriction. Infrequently, aberrant conduction, bradycardia; azotemia; elevated BP.
Drug Interactions
Effects may be potentiated by MAOIs.
