Indications/Uses
Cream: Secondarily infected traumatic lesions eg, small lacerations, sutured wounds or abrasions (up to 10 cm2 in length or 100 cm2 in area), due to susceptible strains of Staph aureus & Strep pyogenes. Oint: Primary & secondary bacterial skin infections caused by Staph aureus & other susceptible organisms.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Cream Apply a thin layer to the affected area tid w/ a piece of clean cotton wool or gauze swab. May cover treated area by a dressing. Duration of treatment: Not to exceed 10 days. Oint Apply tid for up to 10 days. Re-evaluate treatment after 3-5 days if no response.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Cream: Discontinue treatment if irritation or sensitization develops. Not suitable for ophth use & intranasal use. Pregnancy & lactation. Oint: Re-evaluate treatment if no response after 3-5 days. Patients w/ extensive burns or wounds; renal impairment.
Adverse Reactions
Cream: Rarely, hypersensitivity reactions including urticaria, pruritus, erythema, burning sensation, contact dermatitis, rash skin dryness & erythema. Oint: Local reactions eg, burning, stinging, & itching.
