Ispaghula husk (Plantago ovata seed shells)
Indications/Uses
For use in chronic constipation where soft feces is desired eg, in anal fissures, hemorrhoids, after anal/rectal surgery & during pregnancy. Supportive treatment after diarrhea & irritable bowel syndrome.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn >12 yr 1 sachet 2-6 times daily.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Stir the required amount into a glass of cold water (150 mL) & drink immediately. Do not take w/o water.
Contraindications
Pathological narrowing in GIT, threatened or existing intestinal obstruction (ileus). Poorly controlled DM.
Special Precautions
Adequate amount of liqd should be taken w/ Mucofalk. IDDM.
