Indications/Uses
Symptoms of seasonal allergic or perennial allergic rhinitis in adult & childn ≥6 yr. Symptomatic treatment of nasal polyps in adult ≥18 yr.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Seasonal allergic or perennial rhinitis Adult, elderly & childn ≥12 yr 2 actuations (50 mcg/actuation) in each nostril once daily (total dose 200 mcg), may be reduced to 1 actuation in each nostril for maintenance & may be increased to 4 actuation in each nostril once daily. Childn 3-11 yr 1 actuation in each nostril once daily. Nasal polyposis 2 actuation (50 mcg/actuation) in each nostril once daily (total dose 200 mcg), may be increased to 2 spray in each nostril bid (total daily dose 400 mcg).
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Presence of untreated localized infection involving the nasal mucosa eg, herpes simplex. Recent nasal surgery or trauma.
Special Precautions
Active or quiescent tuberculous infections of resp tract, untreated fungal, bacterial or systemic viral infections. Risk of exposure to certain infections eg, chickenpox & measles. Periodically examine possible changes in nasal mucosa. Discontinue if localized fungal infection of the nose or pharynx develops. Not recommended in nasal septum perforation. Epistaxis may occur. Potential systemic effects may occur eg, Cushing's syndrome, Cushingoid features, adrenal suppression, growth retardation in childn & adolescent, cataract, glaucoma & psychomotor hyperactivity, sleep disorders, anxiety, depression or aggression (particularly in childn). Increased IOP. Signs & symptoms of adrenal insufficiency. Unilateral polyps, ulceration or bleeding. Visual disturbances. Monitor height of childn receiving prolonged treatment w/ nasal corticosteroids. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Pharyngitis, upper resp tract infection; headache; epistaxis, nasal burning, nasal irritation, nasal ulceration; throat irritation.
Drug Interactions
Increased risk of systemic effects w/ CYP3A inhibitors including cobicistat-containing products.
