Indications/Uses
Prophylaxis & chronic treatment of asthma & symptomatic relief of seasonal allergic rhinitis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
FC tab Adult & adolescent ≥15 yr 10 mg tab daily. Chewable tab Childn 6-14 yr 5 mg daily, 2-5 yr 4 mg daily. Granules for oral soln Childn 2-5 yr 1 sachet daily, 6 mth-2 yr 1 sachet in the evening. Dissolve 1 sachet directly in the mouth or mixed w/ a spoonful of cold or room temp soft foods.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Acute asthma attack including status asthmaticus.
Special Precautions
Monitor patient when systemic corticosteroid reduction is considered. Combination therapy w/ bronchodilator. Exercise-induced asthma. Full-dose sachet must be administered w/in 15 min. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Dream abnormalities, hallucinations, palpitations, drowsiness, irritability, restlessness, insomnia, increased sweating, headache; nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, diarrhea, abdominal pain; myalgia including muscle cramps; increased bleeding tendency, bruising, edema; tremor, dry mouth, vertigo, arthralgia.
Drug Interactions
Phenytoin, phenobarb, rifampicin, aspirin, NSAIDs.
