Amoxicillin trihydrate
Indications/Uses
Actinomycosis, biliary tract infections, bone & joint infections, bronchitis, endocarditis, gastroenteritis, gonorrhea, mouth infections, otitis media, pneumonia, spleen disorders, typhoid & paratyphoid fever, & UTI; Lyme disease.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to other β-lactam antibiotics (eg, penicillins & cephalosporins).
Special Precautions
History of allergy or asthma; sensitivity to multiple allergens. Severe renal failure. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Skin rash, urticarial reactions. GI adverse effects particularly diarrhea, nausea & vomiting. Pseudomembranous colitis.
Drug Interactions
Prolonged t½ w/ probenecid. May interact w/ chloramphenicol & tetracyclines. Prolonged bleeding time w/ anticoagulants.
