Amoxicillin trihydrate
Indications/Uses
Infections caused gm +ve & gm -ve microorganism including tonsillitis, tooth infections, pharyngitis, pneumonia & wound infection.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Cap 1 cap 8 hrly. Severe infections Dose may be doubled. Oral susp 1-2 tsp 8 hrly. Severe infections 20-40 mg/kg/day divided in 3 equal doses 8 hrly. Drops Childn 6-12 mth 1-1.5 mL, 0-6 mth 0.5-1 mL. To be taken tid.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: May be taken w/ meals for better absorption & to reduce GI discomfort.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to penicillin V.
Special Precautions
Overgrowth of non-susceptible bacteria of fungi. Discontinue in case of overgrowth of non-susceptible bacteria/fungi.
Adverse Reactions
Diarrhea, indigestion, occasional rash (urticarial) or erythematous.
