Amorolfine HCl
Indications/Uses
Nail mycoses (fungal infections) affecting up to 2 nails & affecting the upper half or sides of the nail. Kills a wide variety of fungi that can cause nail infections.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & elderly Apply to infected nails. Nails should be treated once or twice wkly. Once wkly application should continue for 6 mth for finger nails & 9-12 mth for toe nails. Step 1: Prepare the Nail. Gently file down the infected areas of nail, including the nail surface. Protect any healthy nails while doing this so that the patient does not spread the infection. Step 2: Clean the nail. Use one of the swabs provided, to clean the nail surface. Do not throw the swab away as it will be needed for later to clean the applicator. Step 3: Treat the nail. Dip one of the re-usable applicators into the bottle of nail lacquer. The lacquer must not be wiped off on the edge of the bottle before it is applied. Step 4: Apply the lacquer evenly over the entire surface of the nail. Step 5: Allow to dry. Let the treated nail(s) dry for approx 3 min. Step 6: Clean the applicator. The applicators provided can be used more than once. However, it is important to clean them thoroughly each time so that the patient does not spread the infection. Use the same swab used for cleaning the nails. Do not touch the newly treated nails w/ the swab.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Women planning to become pregnant. Pregnancy & lactation. Patients <18 yr.
Special Precautions
Patients w/ diabetes; weak immune system; poor circulation in hands & feet; severely damaged or infected nail. Avoid contact w/ mucous membranes (eg, mouth & nostrils). Do not inhale. If the patient gets amorolfine in the eyes or ears wash it out w/ water immediately. Wear impermeable gloves when using organic solvents to stop nail lacquer from being removed.
Adverse Reactions
Discoloured, broken or brittle nail. Burning sensation in the area around the nail.
Drug Interactions
Do not use w/ nail varnish or artificial nails.
