Indications/Uses
Drug-induced hypokalemia, liver cirrhosis, nausea, vomiting, cholera, diarrhea, muscular weakness, paralysis, cardiac & CHF, diabetic ketoacidosis, ulcerative colitis, weakness, anorexia, drowsiness, Cushing's syndrome, pyloric stenosis, low BP.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult Severe deficiencies 3-6 tab daily in divided doses.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to K salts. Concomitant use w/ K-sparing diuretics (eg, spironolactone, triamterene).
Special Precautions
Careful attention to acid-base balance & monitor serum electrolytes, ECG & clinical status during treatment particularly in presence of cardiac disease, renal disease or acidosis.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain & diarrhea; hyperkalemia.
Drug Interactions
Hyperkalemia w/ K-retaining diuretics; ACE inhibitors (during heart failure therapy). Increased risk of hyperkalemia w/ β-adrenoceptor blockers.
