Indications/Uses
Management of HTN including treatment of renal disease in hypertensive diabetic patients.
Dosage/Direction for Use
HTN Adult 150 mg once daily, may be increased to 300 mg once daily. Childn 6-12 yr 75 mg once daily, may be increased to 150 mg once daily. Renal disease in hypertensive type II diabetics Initially 150 mg once daily. Maintenance: 300 mg once daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Adverse Reactions
Dizziness & headache; orthostatic hypotension; GI disturbances, fatigue, muscle & joint pains, congestion, hyperkalemia, back pain, vertigo, migraine, cough, acute pancreatitis & increase in liver enzymes. Hypersensitivity reactions eg, rash, urticaria, pruritus & angioedema.
Drug Interactions
CYP2C9 substrates/inhibitors eg, sulfaphenazole, tolbutamide & nifedipine.
