Contents
Per 5 mL syr Phenylephrine HCl 12.5 mg, brompheniramine maleate 4 mg. Per mL oral drops Phenylephrine HCl 6.25 mg, brompheniramine maleate 2 mg
Indications/Uses
Common colds & allergic rhinitis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Syr Adult 5-10 mL. Childn 5-12 yr 5 mL, 3-4 yr 3.75 mL, 7 mth to 2 yr 2.5 mL, 1-6 mth 1.25 mL. To be given every 6-8 hr. Oral drops 7 mth to 2 yr 1 mL, up to 6 mth 0.5 mL. To be given every 6-8 hr.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Severe HTN or CAD, patients receiving MAOIs. Should not be used to treat lower resp conditions including asthma. Newborns, premature infants. Lactation.
Special Precautions
Patients w/ high BP, heart disease, diabetes or thyroid disease. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Pregnancy.
Adverse Reactions
Drowsiness, lassitude, nausea, giddiness, dryness of the mouth, blurred vision, cardiac palpitations, flushing, increased irritability or excitement especially in childn.
Drug Interactions
Additive effect w/ other CNS depressants including alcohol. Increased sympathomimetic effects w/ MAOIs & β-adrenergic blockers. Reduce hypertensive effects of methyldopa, mecamylamine, reserpine & veratum alkaloids.
