As immunomodulator for the management of patients w/ immunodepression suffering from viral infections eg, subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE), varicella, herpes simplex type 1 & 2. Management of recurrent herpes simplex type 1 & 2. Adjunct in the treatment of genital warts.
TabAdult 2 tab every 6 hr for 5-14 days. Herpes simplex 1 g every 6 hr for 7-14 days. Genital warts 1 g every 8 hr for 14-28 days. Adult & childn w/ SSPE 50-100 mg/kg/day in divided doses every 4 hr. SyrAdult & elderly 20 mL every 6-8 hr. Childn 7-12 yr 5 mL every 4-6 hr; 3-6 yr 3 mL every 4-6 hr; 1-2 yr 2 mL every 4-6 hr; 7-12 mth 1.5 mL every 4-6 hr; birth to 6 mth 1 mL every 4-6 hr. Duration
of treatment: 5-14 days.
