Contents
Fe sulfate (elemental Fe 105 mg) 525 mg, Ca pantothenate 10 mg, folic acid 800 mcg, niacinamide 30 mg, vit B1 6 mg, vit B2 6 mg, vit B6 5 mg, vit B12 25 mcg, vit C 500 mg
Indications/Uses
Treatment & prevention of Fe-deficiency & concomitant folic acid deficiency w/ associated deficient intake or increased need for vit B-complex in nonpregnant adults; vit B-complex deficiencies.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Pregnant & nonpregnant adult 1 tab daily.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Best taken between meals. May be taken w/ meals to reduce GI discomfort. Swallow whole, do not chew/crush tab.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Thalassemia, sideroblastic anemia, hemochromatosis & hemosiderosis. Childn.
Special Precautions
Pernicious anemia. Patients w/ chronic renal failure & receiving ASA. Hematologic remission may occur while neurological manifestations remain progressive. Serum B12 levels should be regularly assessed in elderly & patients w/ condition leading to vit B12 depletion. Fe therapy could induce relapse of erythropoietic protoporphyria. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Allergic reactions, GI effects, hyperbilirubinemia, acneiform vulgaris deterioration or acneiform exanthema eruption, bright yellow urine discoloration, flushing, dizziness or faintness, peripheral sensory neuropathies, stone formation, crystalluria & oxalosis, black discoloration of stool.
Drug Interactions
Mg trisilicate, antacids or cholestyramine, alcohol, tetracyclines, nicotine, levodopa, anticoagulants, quinolones.
