Human hepatitis B Ig
Indications/Uses
Prophylaxis of hepatitis B after exposure to HBsAg. Prophylaxis of hepatitis B in neonates.
Dosage/Direction for Use
IM Exposure to HBsAg Adult Recommended dose: 1,000-2,000 IU. If necessary, may increase or repeat dose. Childn 32-48 IU/kg. Administer w/in 7 days after exposure to HBsAg (preferably w/in 48 hr). Neonate Initially 100-200 IU. 1st dose: Administer w/in 5 days after birth (preferably w/in 48 hr). Booster dose: Administer 32-48 IU/kg between 2-3 mth after the 1st administration.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Patients w/ IgA deficiency syndrome. Should not be administered IV. 1 dose of 1 mL inj should be done at 2 different sites in neonates.
Adverse Reactions
Local pain, swelling & induration at the inj site. Occasional rash & fever.
