Indications/Uses
Treatment of advanced or metastatic breast cancer & non-small cell lung cancer.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Recommended dose: 75 mg/m2 administered over 1 hr every 3 wk. Patients must be premed w/ oral corticosteroids eg, dexamethasone 16 mg/day for 3 days starting 1 day prior to docetaxel administration.
Contraindications
History of hypersensitivity to docetaxel or drugs w/ polysorbate 80. Leukocyte count <1500 cells/mm3. Severe liver impairment. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
Closely monitor main function index during infusion. Monitor leukocyte counts frequently. Decrease dosage in case of severe neutropenia (<500 cells/mm3 & duration of ≥7 days) & severe peripheral neurotoxicity. Discontinue therapy if severe hypersensitivity reactions eg, decrease BP by >20 mmHg, bronchospasm or eruption/erythema; & cutaneous reactions eg, localized erythema of extremities, edema & desquamation occur. Childn.
Adverse Reactions
Marrow suppression, hypersensitivity & cutaneous reactions, fluid retention, GI symptoms, neurotoxicity, increase bilirubin values, CV & other reactions eg, alopecia, asthenia, catarrh, arthritis, myalgia, hypotension.
