Indications/Uses
Treatment of metastatic CRC in combination w/ fluorouracil & folinic acid & as adjuvant treatment of colon cancer after resection of the primary tumor.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Monotherapy/combination therapy: 130 mg/m2 of BSA, added into 250-500 mL glucose soln 5%. Infuse 2-6 hrs. If no major toxicity appears, repeat every 3 wk.
Contraindications
History of known allergy to platinum derivatives. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
Delay next cycle when blood toxicity occurs (leukocyte <2,000/mm3 or blood platelet <50,000/mm3). Use w/ caution in combination therapy due to potential neurotoxicity. Monitor blood amount & classification, & neurologic symptoms.
Adverse Reactions
Anemia, aleukocytosis, granulocytopenia, thrombopenia. Nausea, vomiting & diarrhea. Peripheral & sensory neuropathy characterized by peripheral neuritis.
