Fe fumarate 320 mg (equiv to elemental Fe 105 mg), vit E 30 IU, vit B₁ 10 mg, vit B₂ 10 mg, vit B₆ 5 mg, vit B₁₂ 50 mcg, vit B₃ 30 mg, vit C 500 mg

Overdosage

View Hemarate overdosage for action to be taken in the event of an overdose.

Administration

Should be taken on an empty stomach: Best taken between meals. May be taken w/ meals to reduce GI discomfort.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity. Primary hemochromatosis, peptic ulcer, regional enteritis, ulcerative colitis.

Adverse Reactions

Fe: GI side effects eg, nausea, vomiting, bloating & upper abdominal discomfort; diarrhea, constipation. Temporary staining of teeth. Darker stool color. Vit C (prolonged intake & in excess of 2 g/day): Nausea, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, nose bleeds.

Drug Interactions

Reduced Fe absorption w/ antacids & tetracyclines. Delayed response to Fe therapy w/ chloramphenicol.
