Ketoconazole
Indications/Uses
Dermatophyte infections of the skin tinea corporis, tinea cruris, tinea manus, & tinea pedis due to Trichophyton rubrum. Cutaneous candidiasis & tinea (pityriasis) versicolor.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply to affected areas once daily. Duration of treatment: Tinea versicolor & yeast infections 2-3 wk. Tinea cruris 2-4 wk. Tinea corporis 3-4 wk. Tinea pedis 4-6 wk.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Not for ophth use. Irritation may occur if used immediately after prolonged treatment w/ topical corticosteroids, subsequent & gradual w/drawal of steroid therapy over a period of 2-3 wk is recommended. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Pruritus, irritation, & burning sensation. Allergic local skin phenomena eg, contact dermatitis.
