Amlodipine besilate 5 mg, losartan K 50 mg
Indications/Uses
Mild to moderate HTN; HTN not responding to monotherapy w/ Ca antagonist or AIIA. Substitution for the titrated doses of individual components.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Initially 1 tab daily. May be increased to 2 tab daily if BP control is inadequate after a wk or 2.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Special Precautions
Hypotension. Aggravation of angina particularly w/ severe obstructive CAD. CHF. Electrolyte imbalance in patients w/ renal impairment w/ or w/o diabetes. Severe renal disease. Increased serum creatinine or BUN in patients w/ unilateral or bilateral renal artery stenosis. Renal & hepatic impairment. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, headache, dizziness, abdominal pain, fatigue, flushing, palpitation & asthenia.
Drug Interactions
Losartan: Decreased conc of losartan w/ rifampin. Decreased active metabolite conc & increased losartan conc w/ fluconazole. May lead to increase in serum K w/ K-sparing diuretics, K supplements or salt substitutes containing K. Reduced excretion of lithium. May result in further renal function deterioration in some patients w/ compromised renal function & may diminish antihypertensive effect of losartan w/ NSAIDs including selective COX-2 inhibitors.
