Lidocaine 25 mg, prilocaine 25 mg
Indications/Uses
Topical analgesia for use on normal intact skin & genital mucous membrane for superficial minor surgery & as pre-treatment for infiltration anesth.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult Apply a thick layer to intact skin & cover w/ occlusive dressing. Minor dermal procedures IV cannulation & venipuncture Apply 2.5 mg over 20-25 cm2 of skin for 1 hr. Major dermal procedures Apply 2 g/10 cm2 of skin & allow to remain in skin for 2 hr. Male genital skin Apply a thick layer for 15 min. Female genital mucous membrane Apply a thick layer for 5-10 min. Childn 7-12 yr, >20 kg 20 g over 200 cm2 for 4 hr; 1-6 yr, >10 kg 10 g over 100 cm2 for 4 hr; 3-12 mth, >5 kg 2 g over 20 cm2 for 4 hr; 0-3 mth, <5 kg 1 g over 10 cm2 for 1 hr.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to amide-type local anesth.
Special Precautions
Avoid ear & eye contact, history of drug sensitivities, hepatic disease. Patients w/ congenital or idiopathic methemoglobinemia, G6PD deficiency, infants <12 mth receiving treatment w/ methemoglobin-inducing agents. Monitor methemoglobin levels on neonates & infants ≤3 mth. Acutely-ill, debilitated or elderly patients.
Adverse Reactions
Erythema, edema, abnormal sensation. Paleness, redness, alterations in temp sensations, itching, rash, burning sensation. Urticaria, angioedema, bronchospasm, shock.
Drug Interactions
Class I antiarrhythmics eg, tocainide & mexiletine.
