Clindamycin phosphate 1%, benzoyl peroxide 5%
Indications/Uses
Topical treatment of acne vulgaris.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply once daily to the affected area.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to lincomycin, clindamycin & benzoyl peroxide. W/ or history of regional enteritis, ulcerative colitis or antibiotic-associated colitis (eg, pseudomembranous colitis).
Special Precautions
Avoid contact w/ hair, mouth, eyes, lips & other mucous membranes or areas of irritated/broken skin; prolonged exposure to sunlight & sunlamps. Discontinue use if severe local irritancy & pseudomembranous colitis occur. Preexisting antimicrobial resistant Propionibacterium acnes & commensal flora. Cross-resistance. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <12 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Erythema, peeling, dryness, burning sensation.
Drug Interactions
Possible antagonism w/ erythromycin. Enhanced action of other neuromuscular blockers. May reduce effects of tretinoin, isotretinoin, tazarotene & increase irritation w/ these drugs.
