Betamethasone dipropionate
Indications/Uses
Relief of inflammatory & pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid responsive dermatoses.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply thinly to affected areas once daily or bid. Max: 50 g/wk.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to betamethasone dipropionate & other corticosteroids.
Special Precautions
Discontinue use if HPA axis suppression is noted or irritation develops. May produce manifestations of Cushing's syndrome. Institute appropriate antifungal or antibacterial agent in presence of dermatological infections. Not for ophth use. Visual disturbances. Occurrence of adrenal suppression especially in childn. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <12 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Pruritus, erythema. Hypertrichosis, hypopigmentation, perioral/allergic contact dermatitis, skin maceration, secondary infection, skin disorders (eg, skin atrophy & dryness), striae, miliaria; blurred vision. Cream: Burning/stinging, dry skin, irritation, tingling, prickly skin, tightening or cracking of skin, warm feeling, laminar & perilesional scaling, follicular rash, skin atrophy, telangiectasia. Oint: Folliculitis, itching, vesiculation.
