Indications/Uses
Relief of pain & inflammation in rheumatic disorders eg, ankylosing spondylitis, OA & RA including juvenile RA, painful vertebral column syndromes; acute gout attacks; painful post-op inflammation & swelling including dental & orthopedic procedures; painful or inflammatory gynecological conditions eg, primary dysmenorrhea. Tab Adjuvant in severe painful ear, nose or throat inflammatory infections.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Tab Adult Moderate to severe acute pain 100-150 mg in 2-3 divided doses. Inj 1 amp (75 mg) IM once daily or bid in severe cases. Max duration of treatment: 2 days.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Take immediately after meals.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to aspirin or other NSAIDs. Asthma, urticaria or active rhinitis attacks precipitated by ASA or other NSAIDs. Tab Gastric or intestinal ulcer. Hemorrhagic diathesis. Inj Peptic ulcer.
Special Precautions
History of cardiac decompensation, HTN or other conditions predisposing to fluid retention. GI disorder, history of GI ulceration w/ ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease. Discontinue use if peptic ulceration or GI bleeding occur. Renal (CrCl <10 mL/min) & hepatic impairment. Not to be used in during pregnancy & lactation. Not recommended in childn. Tab Avoid use in hepatic porphyria. Not to be administered in aspirin-sensitive asthmatic patients; preexisting asthma. Not to be given w/ aspirin tid. Inj Monitor blood count, renal & hepatic function regularly especially during long-term treatment.
Adverse Reactions
Gastric ulcer perforation, GI hemorrhage, headache, dizziness. Tab Lower gut disorders. Epigastric pain, nausea, diarrhea. Inj GI disturbances & bleeding, peptic ulcer, hepatic & renal abnormalities, rash, pruritus, peripheral edema.
