Contents
Per 5 mL syr Phenylpropanolamine HCl 12.5 mg, brompheniramine maleate 4 mg. Per mL drops Phenylpropanolamine HCl 6.25 mg, brompheniramine maleate 2 mg
Indications/Uses
Dosage/Direction for Use
Syr Adult 5-10 mL. Childn 5-12 yr 5 mL, 3-4 yr 3.75 mL, 7 mth-2 yr 2.5 mL, 1-6 mth 1.25 mL. Oral Drops Infant 7 mth-2 yr 1 mL, up to 6 mth 0.5 mL. To be taken every 6-8 hr.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Patients w/ severe HTN or severe CAD, or those receiving MAOIs. Do not use to treat lower resp tract conditions including asthma. Premature infants or neonates. Lactation.
Special Precautions
High BP, heart disease, diabetes or thyroid disease. Avoid alcoholic drink. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Pregnancy.
Adverse Reactions
Drowsiness, lassitude, nausea giddiness, mouth dryness, blurred vision, cardiac palpitations, flushing, increased irritability, excitement (in childn).
Drug Interactions
May exhibit additive effect w/ other CNS depressant including alcohol. May increase sympathomimetic effects of MAOIs & β-blockers. Reduced hypertensive effects of methyldopa, mecamylamine, reserpine & veratum alkaloids.
