Indications/Uses
Tab: Relief of symptoms associated w/ allergic rhinitis eg, sneezing, nasal discharge (rhinorrhea) & itching, as well as ocular itching & burning, urticaria & other dermatologic disorders. Nasal & ocular signs & symptoms are relieved rapidly after oral administration. Syr: Relief of symptoms associated w/ perennial &/or seasonal allergic rhinitis & allergic skin disorders.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Tab Adult & childn ≥6 yr >30 kg 1 tab once daily. Syr Adult & childn ≥12 yr 10 mL once daily. Childn 2-12 yr >30 kg 10 mL once daily, ≤30 kg 5 mL once daily, 1-2 yr 2.5 mL once daily. Severe hepatic impairment Adult & childn >30 kg Initially 10 mg every other day. Childn ≤30 kg Initially 5 mg every other day.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Discontinue at least 48 hr before skin tests. May prevent or reduce positive reactions to dermal reactivity index. Liver impairment. Avoid use during pregnancy. Not recommended during lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Headache, somnolence, fatigue & dry mouth, GI disorders eg, nausea, gastritis, & allergic symptoms like rash.
Drug Interactions
Increased plasma conc w/ ketoconazole, erythromycin or cimetidine. Co-administration w/ other drugs known to inhibit hepatic metabolism.
