Adult 250-750 mg bid. Acute exacerbations of cystic fibrosis associated w/ Pseudomonas aeruginosaAdolescent & childn ≥5 yr 20 mg/kg bid. Max: 750 mg bid. Gonorrhea 250 or 500 mg as a single dose. Meningococcal meningitis prophylaxis 500 mg as a single dose. Surgical infection prophylaxis 750 mg as a single dose 60-90 min pre-op.
May be taken with or without food: May be taken w/ meals to minimize GI discomfort. Do not take w/ antacids, Fe or dairy products.
Special Precautions
Epilepsy or history of CNS disorders. Hepatic or renal impairment, G6PD deficiency or myasthenia gravis. Discontinue in case of tendon pain, inflammation or rupture. Maintain adequate fluid intake during treatment. Avoid excessive alkalinity of the urine, exposure to strong sunlight & sunlamps. MRSA infections. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery.
