Stroke 20-50 mL for 10-21 days. Traumatic brain injury 20-50 mL for 7-30 days. Alzheimer's disease 10-30 mL for 5 days wkly (1 cycle) or 4 wk (2-4 cycles/yr). Vascular dementia 10-30 mL for 5 days wkly (1 cycle) or 4 wk (2-4 cycles/yr). Initiate all doses as soon as possible. Doses between 10-50 mL are recommended as slow IV infusion. Doses up to 5 mL can be injected undiluted IM & up to 10 mL can be injected through IV inj slowly over 3 min.
Always use only disposable 1-way IV infusions sets & cannulas. Start infusion as quickly as possible after dilution. Flush w/ 0.9% NaCl soln before & after infusion/inj. Rinse catheter before & after the application w/ physiological NaCl soln when administered via long-term IV catheter. Should not be mixed w/ balanced amino acid soln during infusion. Allergic diathesis. Epileptic conditions & grand mal convulsions. Pregnancy & lactation.
