Cefixime trihydrate

Indications/Uses

Susceptible infections including gonorrhea, otitis media, pharyngitis, lower resp tract infections eg, bronchitis & UTI.

Dosage/Direction for Use

Childn 5-10 yr 200 mg daily, 1-4 yr 100 mg daily, 6 mth-1 yr 75 mg daily.

Administration

May be taken with or without food: May be taken w/ food or milk to reduce GI discomfort.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to other cephalosporins & penicillins.

Special Precautions

Hypersensitivity. Penicillin-sensitive patients.

Adverse Reactions

Skin rashes, urticaria, eosinophilia, fever, serum sickness-like reactions & anaphylaxis; +ve Coombs' test. Neutropenia & thrombocytopenia.

Drug Interactions

May increase prothrombin time of anticoagulants.
