Amoxicillin trihydrate
Indications/Uses
Biliary tract infections, bronchitis, endocarditis, gastroenteritis, gonorrhea, mouth infections, otitis media, pneumonia, spleen disorders, typhoid & paratyphoid fever, UTI; upper & lower resp tract, GI tract, skin & soft tissue, gynecological/obstet/miscellaneous infections.
Dosage/Direction for Use
1 cap every 8 hr. Enteric fever: Typhoid & paratyphoid Adult 4 g daily in divided doses for 14-21 days. Childn 100 mg/kg/day in divided doses for 14-21 days. Typhoid carrier states 3-4 g daily in divided doses for a min of 1 mth. Gonorrhea 3 g daily as a single dose.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: May be taken w/ meals for better absorption & to reduce GI discomfort.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Overgrowth of nonsusceptible organisms may occur especially during prolonged therapy.
Adverse Reactions
Diarrhea, indigestion, glossitis, stomatitis & vomiting.
