Tab Bronchospasm Adult 2.5 mg 3 times in a 24 hr period during the 1st 1-2 wk, then may be increased to 5 mg 3 times in 24 hr.
Childn 0.075 mg/kg 3 times in 24 hr; suitable dosage:
>30 kg 1-2 tab 3 times in 24 hr,
20-30 kg ½-1 tab 3 times in 24 hr,
20 kg ¼-½ tab 3 times in 24 hr.
Inj Bronchospasm Adult IV inj 0.25-0.5 mg slow IV inj for 5 min. Max: 2 mg in 24 hr.
IV infusion 1-2 mg during a 24 hr interval as continuous infusion. Initial loading dose: Up to 0.10 mg over 10 min.
SC 1-2 mg during a 24 hr interval, split into at least 4 occasions.
Childn IV infusion Up to 25 mcg/kg during a 24 hr interval as continuous infusion. Initial loading dose: Up to 1.5 mcg/kg over 10 min.
SC Up to 25 mcg/kg during a 24 hr interval, split into at least 4 occasions.
Preterm labour Initially 5 mcg/min IV infusion for 20 min, increased by 2.5 mcg/min at 20-min intervals until contraction stops. >10 mcg/min should seldom be given & 20 mcg/min should not be exceeded. Continue for 1 hr at the chosen infusion rate & then decrease rate in steps of 2.5 mcg/min at 20-min intervals to the lowest dose that produces continued suppression of contractions for 12 hr. Then, continue w/ oral maintenance therapy 5 mg tid until the end of 36th wk of pregnancy, or 0.25 mg SC inj 4 times in a 24 hr period for a few days before oral treatment.
