Contents
Losartan K 50 mg, amlodipine besilate 5 mg
Indications/Uses
Treatment of mild to moderate HTN & that unresponsive to monotherapy.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Initially 1 tab/day, may be increased up to 2 tab/day.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Concomitant use w/ K supplements. Pregnancy.
Special Precautions
History of impaired liver or kidney function, heart failure, poor blood circulation, sick sinus syndrome, severe ventricular dysfunction. Monitor serum K conc. Avoid excess dosage. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Lactation. Childn. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Low BP; headache, dizziness, weakness, fatigue; back, muscle pain; GI disturbances, transient elevation of liver enzymes, taste disturbance; resp tract disorders, cough, rash, allergic reactions.
Drug Interactions
Amlodipine: Increased metabolism w/ rifampin. Reduced hypotensive effect w/ Ca. Potentiation w/ thiazide diuretics & ACE inhibitors. β-blockers (in patients w/ markedly impaired left ventricular function). Losartan: May worsen renal function w/ NSAIDs. Increased AUC w/ cimetidine. Decreased levels w/ phenobarb & other enzyme inducers. Ketoconazole. Increased serum K levels w/ K-sparing diuretics, K supplements or salt substitutes. Reduced lithium excretion.
