Amlodipine besilate
Indications/Uses
HTN. Chronic stable angina, confirmed or suspected vasospastic angina, recently documented CAD by angiography & w/o heart failure or ejection fraction <40%. Reduces risk of hospitalization due to angina & coronary revascularization procedure.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult Initially 5 mg once daily. Max: 10 mg once daily. Chronic stable or vasospastic angina & CAD 5-10 mg once daily. Max: 10 mg once daily. Small, fragile individual, elderly, patient w/ hepatic insufficiency May be started on 2.5 mg once daily. Dose titration: 7-14 days. Childn 6-17 yr 2.5-5 mg once daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Increased angina &/or MI particularly those w/ severe obstructive CAD. Severe aortic stenosis, heart failure. Avoid abrupt β-blocker w/drawal. Severe hepatic impairment. Pregnancy & lactation. Elderly. Childn <6 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Headache & edema. Dizziness, flushing, palpitation.
