Patients w/ epilepsy, former history of convulsions or w/ predisposing factors for epilepsy. Factors that may raise urine pH including drastic changes in diet (eg, from a carnivore to a vegetarian diet) or massive ingestion of alkalizing gastric buffers. Renal tubular acidosis or severe infections of the urinary tract. Patients w/ recent MI, uncompensated CHF (NYHA III-IV), or uncontrolled HTN. Close monitoring of prothrombin time or INR in concomitant use w/ oral anticoagulants. Avoid concomitant use w/ N-methyl-D-aspartate antagonists eg, amantadine, ketamine or dextromethorphan. Minor or moderate influence on the ability to drive & use machines. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <18 yr.
