Should be taken with food: Take immediately before or during breakfast, or the 1st main meal of the day. Do not skip meals.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to glimepiride, other sulfonylureas or sulfonamides. Insulin dependent (type I) DM (eg, diabetics w/ history of ketoacidosis) or diabetic precoma or coma. Amara-4 Severe renal or hepatic function disorders.
Not to be used for type 1 DM. Hypoglycemia. May lead to hemolytic anemia in patients w/ G6PD deficiency. Regular monitoring of glucose levels in blood & urine. Impaired renal function. Severe impairment of liver function. Pregnancy & lactation. Amara May affect ability to operate a vehicle or heavy machinery. Amara-4 Galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Require regular hepatic & hematological monitoring. Temporary switch to insulin in stress situations (eg, accidents, acute operations, infections w/ fever).
